Art Tracks in the Summer Week 2
As with the first week, Week 2 of Art Tracks in the Summer resulted in skill sharing from all involved, laughter, and the completion of quite a few wonderful works of art. For the most part, the weather cooperated, and I was pleased to be able to take the girls on a field trip one morning to sketch outside. To everyone who participated in this summer program, thank you very much for coming. You were all great to be around and I look forward to working with each one of you again in the future. Now, without further ado, I am pleased to present the completed pieces from Week 2...
Caroline's work
Once again, Caroline's ability to portray the human figure in a number of positions garnered the admiration of the group. Looking through her older pieces, one can see that she has really progressed, while staying true to her personal style. Very nice, Caroline!

Tess's work
As we learned last year with her painting of Larissa, Tess knows how to create a beautiful watercolour portrait. My expectations of her with this medium are high, and when she completed this portrait of her mom in only five days, they were reinforced. Great work, Tess!

Larissa's work
This week, Larissa chose to focus on birds - and what a beautiful job she did! Always one to think outside the box, she decided that her first task would be to paint a bird house. Fantastic work, Larissa, I was truly impressed!

Talia's work
Talia has an impressive ability to map out a sketch quickly. This comes in handy when what one really wants to do is get some colour on the page! She came into this week wanting to try "a bit of everything" and truly excelled. Keep up the good work!

Art Tracks in the Summer Week 1
With school recently finished and summer in full swing, Week 1 filled up quickly - and what an eventful week! Between storms, power outages and floods, I had concerns that this group would be able to concentrate. In addition to concentrating however, every one of them ended up learning a bit and creating works that truly impressed me. I am very happy to present each artist's favourite pieces below.

Art Tracks in the Summer
Thank you to everyone who helped make this year of art classes such a success, and to those who came out and saw our students' art work at Swansea Town Hall. We had a full house on opening night and were very happy to display the work for a month following. Please contact Frances if you have not yet collected your pieces.
In other news, we are pleased to announce that Art Tracks in the Summer, a Mon-Fri day camp, will run for two weeks this July. Throughout each week, kids spend their mornings exploring a variety of media of their choice, and learning various classical drawing techniques. In the afternoons they are taken on outings. In the past, these trips have included visiting art galleries, the fringe festival, and Centreville on Centre Island. Space is limited, however there is still room during the week of July 28-August 2. Please contact Tessa if you are interested!
For everyone else, stay tuned as we will be posting Art Tracks news and photos throughout the next couple months. In the meantime, we hope you have a safe and happy summer and look forward to seeing you again this fall...
All the best,
Tessa and Frances
